Meaning of graduation ceremonies for the graduates of the Nursing School of Manaus/AM (1955- 2010)

The study aimed at analyzing the meaning of the graduation ceremonies for those graduates from the Escola de Enfermagem de Manaus, occurred from 1955 to 2010. A qualitative research with a sociohistorical approach, performed by the interviewing and by the iconographic analysis of 24 graduates through thematic oral history, the corpus was contextualized in written arranged into three
categories: graduation ceremony description (people, clothing, local); facts/significant events; and the meaning of graduation. The results showed that the graduation ceremonies mean victory, personal fulfillment and personal and professional achievement.
