Maria Aurineide da Silva Nogueira, protagonist of nursing at the University of Brasília

Objective: to describe the life and professional trajectory of the nurse and teacher Maria Aurineide da Silva Nogueira and her contribution to the undergraduate course in Nursing at the University of Brasília (UnB). Methods: historical-social study based on oral source, through the testimony of a research collaborator and source written from the historical collection of the Memory Center of the UnB Nursing Department. Results: the teacher had a prominent role in the national and regional scenario with active participation as a pioneer member in Nursing organizations in Rio de Janeiro, besides making possible the implementation of the course at UnB. Conclusion: the findings made it possible to identify that nurse Maria Aurineide was one of the great protagonists of nursing in Brazil because she played an essential role in expanding the training of nursing professionals, becoming a great example of a nurse and teacher.
