Abstract

This article reveals some life particularities of Maria Rosa de Sousa Pinheiro, who
graduated to becoming a nurse in 1940 in Toronto, Canada, to integrate the School of Nursing at University of São Paulo’s first faculty team. There, she worked hard as teacher, vice principal and principal. She was one of the ethical, moral and professional pillars of that school and other Brazilian nursing institutions. She was the first woman of the University Council of USP, who dedicated her life to the profession, the students and the school. In addition to biographical professional achievements, we reported peculiarities of her personal life, tastes and curiosities,
which reflected in our long and rich life with her, as students, residents, and as teachers at that school.
