Comparative Research of Historians From Latin American Nursing

Abstract

There has been a big advance in building the history of nursing, but little is known about who the historians are and, much less yet, their origins, motivations and interests, nor any acknowledgment to his social and scientific contribution has been done. The study analyses two semi-structured interviews, built from a systemic categorical perspective. Two Latin American historians of Nursing were interviewed: the nurse Velandia Mora and the Historian De Souza Campo. The interview shows points of contact and differences that let us understand their interest in research on the history of the infirmary, his influences, initial research interests, current and to the future; The personal achievements and for the profession, the contribution provided by the history to the students, the extension of achievements to other areas of the health and the contribution of the research in nursing to the research in general, to the social projection of the nurse and to the professional identity; Basic tools to research are identified, obtained from the professional training, emphasizing the importance that the history has in the training of nurses.
