The Image Of Nurse-Women And Their Repercutions

Abstract

During the 20th century the image of the nurse woman has been used progressively from very different angles and with, sometimes, not very clear purposes even though they have been disguised with other tones. Those would be, in first place, wellbeing and health, as some companies would defend. Other evaluations would use the image of the nurse woman as to sell free time and the consumption promotion without forgetting the traditional values that nurses
have: peace, abnegation, charity, and efficacy which are used for different purposes including the purpose of selling things. By analyzing the iconographic source we can affirm that they are in the line of the most varied interest and traditional nurse woman purpose in the patriarchal society that we are still immersed. If this is the way it looks it should be an alert call for the profession and the professionals and their role in society.
