The present study aims to recover, under the historical prism, the trajectory of the nurse doctor Maria Grasiela Teixeira Barroso, Emeritus Teacher of Federal University of Ceará, and her contribution to the growth, development and recognition for the Nursing in the Country. It is an historical-social research, in which it had been used as research sources documentaries of the Course, articles published about the doctor Maria Grasiela Teixeira Barroso, her personal archive,
as well as the base of information of the System Curriculum lattes and depositions granted from colleagues, former-pupils and friends. Throughout the years she becomes one of the most respected personalities in the health area on the State of Ceara, and her life trajectory is puzzled with the Nursing history, therefore, in uneven way, she acted fully for the growth and development of the profession, being considered a symbol of nurse, teacher, and, mainly, of person human being.
